Schola Cantorum OrbiSophia
Canto Beneventano a Benevento e nel mondo
The Schola Cantorum OrbiSophia was founded in Benevento in 2019. The choir specializes in Beneventan Chant, and is proud to share the heritage of the old Beneventan melodies with the world.

Our Story
The Schola Cantorum OrbiSophia was founded by Tetyana Shyshnyak and a group of dedicated choral singers from Benevento who had been introduced to Beneventan chant by "Vox Pacem Day" and their participation in the cortomettragio "il neuma". Together, the singers have discovered the joy and mystery of the ancient Beneventan melodies. The schola is also proud to sing fluently from eleventh century Beneventan neumes, because it is fun and the neumes are easy to read!
The Schola has produced over 50 concerts, presentations, and workshops thoughout the Benevento region, including presentations in San Giorgio del Sannio, Campobasso, and Monte Vergine. The schola has shared Beneventan chant throughout Italy including presntations in Assisi (Santa maria degli Angeli), Monte Gargano (Sanctuary of St. Michael), and the Abbey of St. Michael the Archangel, Procida.
